Be Mine Page 7
He watched her swallow hard, and he could almost hear the inner workings of her mind. She had to forgive him. She had to. He wanted to order her to forgive him. Fist that long brown hair, kiss her senseless, and order her to give him another chance. But he stayed still. This had to be her choice. Her decision.
That beautiful long hair fell in waves over her shoulders, nearly covering Cupid’s little body. Her watery blue eyes looked at his face, searching for … what? God, he wished he knew what she needed from him. He’d give her anything.
She gave her head a little shake. “Maybe you were right when you walked out, Dylan. I don’t have the kind of money your family has. I don’t travel in your circles.” She gave a humorless little laugh. “And I’m a bartender. I flunked out of school studying to be a vet.” Carly turned to walk inside the still-open front door, shivering in the cold. “Maybe your ex-girlfriend wasn’t right for you, but I don’t think I am either.”
Oh, hell no. When Carly turned to shut the door, she stepped back in surprise to find that Dylan was right in front of her, his eyes shooting fire. He’d be damned if he’d ever let her think she wasn’t good enough. Before Carly could stop him, he shut the door behind him, welcoming the warmth inside the house.
“What are you doing?” she asked when she finally regained her composure. “I told you—”
“I know what you told me.” He watched as her jaw clenched. She leaned down to let Cupid run free, and he yipped happily as he spotted Batgirl and immediately gave chase.
“Dylan, you can’t just barge in and—”
Before she could finish, he had pushed her up against the wall in the foyer, trapping her hands over her head. Her eyes flared briefly, telling him she wasn’t completely oblivious to him.
“Tell me you don’t want me,” he demanded.
When she parted her lips to speak, he leaned in, claiming her mouth. When his tongue thrust in, rubbing against hers, she moaned into him, her body soft beneath his as she kissed him fiercely. When he abruptly ended the kiss and raised his head, he was pleased to find Carly’s eyes hooded and see the little pulse point in her neck throbbing like it did when she was really turned on.
“Tell me you don’t want me,” he repeated. “Tell me you’re not falling in love with me. If you can look into my eyes and honestly tell me that, Carly, I’ll leave right now. I’ll leave you alone. But you’re not going to shove me away because I made a mistake, and you’re sure as hell not going to shove me away because you have some twisted thought that you’re not good enough for me. I love you, Carly. You. I love your kindness, I love your heart, I love your humor, and yes, I love your body. I love you. And I don’t want you to change. You’re perfect. Perfect for me.”
She stared at him, her eyes trained on him.
“So, tell me,” he said. “Tell me you don’t want me.”
Chapter Sixteen
Her hands were trapped over her head, held in place by his larger ones. So why hadn’t it even occurred to her to struggle? Because she knew if she did, he would immediately let her go. And she didn’t want him to let her go. Even if every other thing in her life was uncertain, she was damn certain that she didn’t want Dylan Price to let her go.
He loved her! She’d never been so bombarded with different emotions. She wanted to believe him, to forgive him, but could she? Did she trust him enough? Did she trust herself enough? That was the real issue, wasn’t it? Did she trust herself enough to give him another chance? To open herself up, show him her vulnerability, and trust that he would protect her?
His face hovered half an inch from hers. She couldn’t form a thought when he was that close. She leaned in and kissed those full lips, her tongue tracing that bottom lip of his, trailing down his stubbled jaw. She smiled inwardly when he let out a groan.
He pulled his head back with a soft curse, still holding her in place. “No, Carls,” he said softly. “You have to tell me. Tell me you don’t want me. Or tell me you do. Please, I need you to talk to me.”
She should send him away. She knew she should.
“I don’t want…” She trailed off.
He could hurt her again.
She licked her lips, looking into his eyes. “I don’t want…”
Why couldn’t she say it? Why couldn’t she send him away? If he did hurt her again, she didn’t think she’d be able to survive it.
“Dylan, I…”
She wouldn’t be able to survive it because she loved him. She loved him! The thought crashed over her in a wave, the intensity of it flooding through her. She loved him. She would never forgive herself if she sent him away. She needed to give him this chance. She needed to give herself this chance.
“Dylan, I don’t want … I don’t want you to go.” She felt the tears fall from her eyes. “Please don’t go. Please don’t ever leave me again. I—I love you.”
“Carly,” he breathed. “Oh God, Carly.” He released her arms and pulled her to him, hugging her close. Her arms wound around his neck as he buried his face in her hair, and when he pulled back, his eyes were filled with tears. “I’ll never hurt you again, baby. Not ever. I’m so very sorry.” He leaned in to brush a kiss over her lips. “I love you.”
She smiled against his mouth. “Then show me,” she whispered. She pressed her mouth to his, but he gently pushed her back.
This time when he raised his head, there was a gleam in his blue eyes, and a lone brow quirked at her. “Are you making demands?”
A thrill went through her. “No, Sir,” she responded immediately.
At the word “Sir,” Dylan’s eyes closed briefly, as if he were savoring the intense moment between them. When he opened them, she saw that the gleam had changed to a hard glint. He stepped back. “Strip for me. I want you naked,” he said as he shrugged off his coat and his boots.
She swallowed. Her entire body was on fire. There was no embarrassment as she stripped off her top. She hadn’t bothered to put on a bra, and her nipples hardened under Dylan’s gaze. When she shoved her sweats and panties down, she thought briefly that she should be embarrassed, standing naked in her mother’s foyer. But she wasn’t. It felt … right with Dylan. She wanted to be here with him. She wanted to be naked for him. She wanted him naked for her. But he stood before her, still in his jeans and dark blue sweater, watching her intently.
“Aren’t you going to…” She decided not to continue when that damn eyebrow quirked at her again.
He grinned as he closed the gap between them, and his arm went around her waist, pulling her to him as his mouth descended. Her arms wound around his neck as his tongue plunged inside. Shockwaves surged through Carly as Dylan claimed her mouth, hungry and possessive as he tilted his head, exploring deeper.
When he finally pulled away, his breathing was shaky. “I owe you a spanking, Carly, but I can’t wait one more second to be inside of you.”
“Spanking?” she asked, her mind not fully focusing on his words, as her fingers yanked at his belt, unhooking it, only to attack the buttons on his jeans. She was so going to buy him jeans that didn’t have a fucking button fly.
“Yes, spanking.” One finger touched under her chin, tilting her head up so her eyes met his. “Don’t you ever think for a second you’re not smart enough or good enough … for me or for anything else. I will spank you any time you disparage yourself.”
At that moment, Carly knew that Dylan had taken up residence in her heart. He owned her in more ways than he would ever know.
Before she could respond, her fingers tugged at his jeans one more time, and the last button finally popped free. “Thank Christ,” she said.
She shoved at his jeans with no effect, but Dylan apparently decided he’d had enough of her attempts. His mouth met hers again, the upper half of his body pressing her to the wall. One hand left her hip, and she heard the rustling of his jeans and the crinkling of a foil packet. His mouth left hers, and he quickly ripped the packet open with his teeth and sheathed himself. Then he was lifting
her. His deep, urgent kisses nearly sent her over the edge. His tongue surged deeper as her legs went instinctively around his body.
She felt the bulbous head of his cock probing her entrance just a moment before he claimed her in one deep thrust, pinning her to the wall.
She broke the kiss, crying out. Dylan slid her arms up the wall and grasped her hands again, holding them immobile. His upper body crushed hers, her nipples growing harder as they brushed against the roughness of his sweater. Every feeling was intensified. Every movement he made was heaven. Her legs were locked around him, her heels at his lower back. She wanted to urge him deeper, but he kissed her again, staying still.
Chapter Seventeen
It took every ounce of self-restraint in Dylan not throw everything aside and plow into Carly over and over until he released himself in her. He waited for her to get used to the feel of him. She was so tight, and he’d be damned if he’d ever hurt her. His mouth moved lower, and he purposefully rubbed his cheek on her neck, scraping his stubble lightly across the sensitive skin.
“Dylan,” she said on a moan as he attacked her neck, his teeth lightly nipping, his tongue tracing little circles until Carly was writhing as much as she could under the weight of his body.
“Please,” she begged.
He raised his head to look down at her. Her eyes looked as though she were drunk, and he wondered briefly if he looked the same. Because that’s how he felt—drunk with her, every cell completely intoxicated with Carly.
“Please,” she said again. “I need you so much. Please, Sir.”
“Carly, oh God, Carls.” At the word “Sir,” that last thread of self-control snapped. Dylan pulled out and plunged back in. He’d planned to take this slow, but slow wasn’t going to happen. Over and over he thrust, grinding his pelvis against her, enjoying the way her body quivered as she rose. Her head tossed from side to side. He let her move her hands enough so she could lace her fingers through his, and she gripped his hands tightly.
His own body grew taut, and he clenched his jaw as he felt his balls draw up, fighting the orgasm that was building. “Carly, please.” He was the one begging now. “I want you to come, baby. Please come. I can’t hold back.”
And he couldn’t. As her body stiffened, his thrusts sped up, but then something in Carly broke, and she shook, crying out his name, her hands gripping his as her orgasm overtook her.
And he was right there with her. Her pussy clamped down on his cock as she came, sending him over the edge. Dylan thrust one last time, his body shuddering as his cock spasmed deep inside of her, giving her everything he had.
Several moments passed as he stood there with Carly wrapped around him. He didn’t want to let her go. Ever. Finally, when his cock softened, she unhooked her legs from around his waist, and her feet slid to the floor.
“Do you think we should go to the bedroom?” she mumbled, her head buried in his chest.
Dylan pulled back to look at her, and they both noticed Cupid and Batgirl sitting in the doorway to the kitchen staring at them.
Carly giggled. “It looks like we have an audience. Maybe we should move to a different room. With my luck, my mom and Sam will come home early and walk in on us.”
He grinned. “I wouldn’t worry about them. Sam probably took her parking. He does have that huge flatbed truck, you know.”
Carly stopped in her tracks, and her face twisted up at the thought. “Ew! Way to kill a mood, Dylan!” She laughed and tried to step away, but Dylan pulled her back, loosely circling her waist with his arms as he looked down at her.
“So, you didn’t answer my question,” he said as he leaned in to drop a quick kiss on her upturned mouth.
“Question?” She looked at him blankly, then shook her head. “I’m pretty sure my mind, along with the rest of me, has turned to complete Jell-O. You’re lucky I can even stand.”
Her humor was back, and he enjoyed the sparkle in her eyes as she gave him a heart-stopping smile. He felt his cock stir against her belly. If he lived to be a thousand, he’d never get enough of her.
“The card on Cupid’s collar,” he said with a grin. “‘Be my Valentine?’ Will you be mine, Carls?”
He only hoped his smile could equal the joy he felt in his heart as she answered. “I am yours, Dylan. Will you be mine?”
He hugged her close, resting his cheek on the top of her head.
“I am yours. Always.”
